If the eczema is also present on other parts of the hand, it is referred to as hand eczema. Fingertip eczema may affect the fingernails, causing them to become brittle or peel.

Fingertip eczema causes a dry, flaky rash. Often, the skin on the fingertips peels. The dry skin may crack or appear thick and wrinkled.

The skin of the fingertips may appear red and irritated. If the skin cracks and bleeds, the eczema rash may become infected. If the person develops a fever, if the rash has discharge, or if there are any other signs of infection, the person should notify the physician.

Symptoms of fingertip eczema differ from person to person. Some people experience a tingling sensation or tightness of the skin. Some people report discomfort or pain, especially while typing or doing other activities that require the use of the fingertips.

Eczema can be hereditary. Some families have people who are much more prone to forms of eczema than the general population. Sometimes, fingertip eczema is suspected to be a reaction to an allergen like a chemical to which the skin was exposed.

The physician is likely to ask questions about the patients activities and history of rashes when diagnosing fingertip eczema. The physician will examine the rash. The information provided by the patient and examination of the rash are used to diagnose fingertip eczema since there are no tests for this condition.

Keeping skin moisturized may help prevent eczema flare-ups especially during winter. The doctor may prescribe a topical steroid cream or other medicated ointment.

People with fingertip eczema or other forms of eczema often have occasional flare-ups of the condition. People of any age can have eczema though some people only have the condition in childhood. Keeping the skin moisturized especially during winter is recommended to help prevent eczema rashes.

People with eczema should avoid skin contact with chemicals or prolonged exposure to hot water. If people with fingertip eczema must handle substances that may dry the skin, they should wear rubber gloves.

About the Author:

We are all living with allerigies of some sort, as research shown 1 in 3 person have an allergy. Most asthma sufferers have specific triggers that provoke their attacks. Those who have allergies also experience symptoms in conjunction with certain triggers. In some cases these triggers are unavoidable, but you can often reduce them as long as you know what they are.

If asthma sufferers can manage attacks with an inhaler or other asthma remedies they often feel they have their asthma under control. But it isn't just treating attacks when you have them; having true control over asthma is preventing them from ever occurring. There are lots of things that can be done to stop an allergic reaction or an asthma attack before it occurs.

* Pay attention to the circumstances surrounding your asthma attacks. What do they have in common? Making a note of these things can help you determine what is causing the attacks, and that is the first step in avoiding them.

* Steer clear of everyday triggers like smoke and noxious fumes. These are a frequent cause of an asthma attack, and you need to avoid.

* If pollen and pollution levels are high, stay inside. Venturing outside in these conditions will invite problems.

* Get rid of dust in your home. Use an air purifier, and keep your home as clean as possible. Vacuuming with a regular vacuum cleaner may make things worse, though. Clean with water as much as possible. This traps the dust so that it can't fly, keeping it out of your nose.

* Keep pets outside. Pet hair, feathers, dander, and even saliva can cause allergic reactions in susceptible people. It is advisable to keep all pets except fish out of the homes of allergy sufferers.

* Don't give mold a chance to grow. Mold loves damp places, so make sure that there aren't any in your home. This can be accomplished by running a dehumidifier and making sure that damp areas have plenty of ventilation.

* Cockroaches are often the cause of an allergy or asthma attack, so do everything you can to discourage them from visiting your home. Get rid of clutter, keep your food tightly stored, and don't have standing water. If cockroaches don't find these necessities in your home, they'll look somewhere else.

The use of medication is critical to the majority of those who experience asthma and allergies. It can prevent symptoms, and also help to stop an attack in its tracks. However, it is essential to control the environmental causes so you can manage these conditions more successfully. So if you have asthma, allergies, or both, try out these tips that will let you breathe easier.

About the Author:

Did you know that asthma affects millions of people around the world? So, any person with celiac disease have to adhere to a gluten-free diet. Be sure to study the gluten allergy symptoms and if you suspect gluten allergy contact your doctor.

Where is Gluten Found? The foremost resource of gluten in the food include wheat, rye, and barley. Oats may be tolerated in very small amounts by some patients with celiac disease, although those with severe disease usually don't.

Dairy foods might not be tolerated when persons with celiac disease has active symptoms, since lactose intolerance frequently develops. However, this is due to the lactose sugar in the dairy foods, rather than the proteins, which can cause milk allergy.

What Common Foods are Gluten-Free?

Foods such as soybean flour, tapioca flour, rice, corn, buckwheat and potatoes are usually safe for people with celiac disease. See below for more information regarding a gluten-free diet.

Why Follow a Gluten Free Diet?

* Though if there are no apparent symptoms, celiac disease can cause severe vitamin and nutritional deficiencies, since the intestines may not be able to absorb important nutrients if gluten is being eaten.

* Rates of certain cancers of the gastrointestinal tract are much higher in people with celiac disease, and there is evidence that this risk is decreased with a gluten-free diet.

* People with active celiac disease are at increased risk for other auto-immune conditions, (such as diabetes mellitus type 1, Graves disease and Hashimotos thyroiditis) especially those with continued gluten exposure.

* Mothers with untreated celiac disease are at increased risk for having a low birth weight baby.

How to Follow a Gluten-Free Diet? First, reading all labels on prepared foods is crucial. Do not eat any foods that contain the following:

* Hydrolyzed vegetable protein

* Flour or cereal products

* Vegetable protein

* Malt and malt flavorings

* Starches (unless specified as corn starch, which does not contain gluten)

* Various flavorings, which can be derived from cereals containing gluten

* Vegetable gum

* Emulsifiers, stabilizers derived from cereals containing gluten

Next, especially when eating at a restaurant, avoid the following:

* Breaded foods

* Creamed foods

* Meatloaf and gravies

The following are good choices for a gluten-free diet:

* Broiled or roasted meats (beef, poultry, fish)

* Plain vegetables

* Plain salads

* Potatoes (white, sweet, yams)

* Corn

* Rice

* Beans

* Fruits

* Breads and baked goods made from alternative flours (rice, soy, tapioca, arrowroot, potato)

* Breakfast cereals containing only rice, corn, grits or hominy (Such as puffed rice). Some people with celiac disease may tolerate oats as well.

Are There Other Suggestions Concerning Nutrition?

It is a good idea to see a dietician or nutritionist on a regular basis to ensure that your gluten-free diet is well balanced and meeting nutritional needs. Your doctor may also prescribe various vitamin supplements to make up for any nutritional deficiencies. Since bone loss is a common problem in people with celiac disease (due in part to vitamin D deficiency), frequent monitoring with bone density scans is recommended.

Consider buying a cookbook with gluten-free recipe ideas, and visit various sites specializes in the support of people with celiac disease.

DISCLAIMER: The information contained in this article is for educational purposes only, and should not be used as a substitute for personal care by a licensed physician. Traditionally, early people associate harvesting of field hay to developing constant sneezing and chronic fever, thus the term "hay fever."

Today, however, the belief that 'hay fever' comes from harvesting of fields of hay is believed to be a misnomer. The experts say that contact with a field of hay should not be associated with fevers.

Today, hay fever is more popularly known as allergic rhinitis. Medical authorities have introduced the term "allergic rhinitis" explaining that this should be the more appropriate term than "hay fever." The word "rhinitis" refers to an irritation of the nose that is most commonly connected to sneezing, nasal congestion, itching of the eyes and nose, runny nose, and excess production of tears. Together, these symptoms bring about a usually very high fever.

When the body's immune system is attached by these allergens, that's when hay fever occurs. Within the body's immune system, there is a productive substance called the 'immunoglobuline E' or IgE. Allergic rhinitis begins when the antibodies (allergens) begin to hurt mast cells. The group of cells are sometimes unprotected by IgE because they are so many that the IgE supply can't cover them all up against all of the antibodies.

When mast cells become infected, they produce allergic substances toward tissues and other body cells. Histamine is one of these substances. It is a very strong and sometimes irritating substance that can cause extreme itchiness and some swelling to the tissues.

In the long run, these substances, like histamine, could trigger a lot more mechanisms to cause more serious disorders like tightening of the throat, loss of voice, and more seriously, asthma. Sometimes, sufferers of hay fever experience muscle spasms and lung contraction.

Allergic rhinitis is also proven to be specifically caused by proteins. Individuals who always come in close contact with plants might be infected with proteins called pollens, the known male sex cells in weeds, trees, and grasses. Pollen is usually invisible since it is only about 4 microns in diameter.

The most potent source of allergies is pollen. This is probably because we can't really see it because of it's size. These pollens rest on nasal passages and can affect the entire respiratory tract, and this in turn causes allergic reactions.

About the Author:

Now you know what causes allergies... want to know the secrets to getting relief? A good number of asthma sufferers know that particular triggers lead to an attack. As well, individuals with allergies have flare-ups in combination with specific triggers. Usually, these causes are inescapable, but you can frequently lessen them if you are aware of what they are.

Those who suffer from asthma usually believe that their asthma is well managed if they can handle attacks by using an inhaler or other asthma remedies. But real control entails the prevention of an asthma attack before it starts, not just taking care of them as they happen. Following are a few tips to help you prevent an asthma or allergy attack before it begins.

* Be aware of the conditions every time you experience an asthma attack. What are the common factors? Take note of the circumstances so that you can figure out what is triggering your attacks; this is your first move towards circumventing them.

* Don't have pets in the house. Animal hair, pet dander, saliva, and feathers can be the cause of an allergic reaction if you're susceptible to these things. Except for fish, it's best to not own a pet if you suffer from allergies.

* Mold should not have a chance to grow. Make sure there are no damp places in the home since mold loves them. Making sure damp areas have plenty of ventilation and running a dehumidifier are ways to do this.

* Cockroaches should not feel welcome in the home. These pests commonly trigger both allergies and asthma. Getting rid of clutter, food sources and water will eliminate the things they need to thrive in the home and they will have to go elsewhere.

Medication is crucial to most allergy and asthma sufferers. It can help them avoid experiencing symptoms, and it can help stop them when they do occur. But it is also important to exercise control over environmental triggers in order to control these ailments effectively. Whether you have allergies, asthma, or both, these tips can help you breathe easier.

About the Author:

Did you know that asthma affects millions of people around the world? You might already know how air conditioner cools the room and makes it more comfortable during summer but you should also be aware that it performs another very critical function. Air filters filter the dust out from the circulating air and exchange it with clean air. So aside from cooling, furnaces have a medically advantageous effect on the room. For the air handler to be able to endlessly clean the air and return it free from harmful bacteria, it will need a high quality air filter. These filters filter out the dirt in the air so that the air that comes out of the appliance is clean.

The filters are positioned along the grill of the air conditioner so they serve as the last point the air passes before it is released to the room.

Air conditioning air filters protect us from evil little things called respirable particles. You can easily see particles accumulate on your coffee table or leather sofa. Respirable particles are undetectable but are nevertheless present in the air. You can easily inhale them. Once inside our bodies these particles can easily lodge in our lungs and cause serious respiratory illnesses. Air conditioning filters extract these small particles so you have both visibly cleaner air and a particle-free atmosphere in your home.

you'll start to value the importance of filtering your air if you consider the fact that the average human breathes in 1.4 million particles of contaminants each day. The Environmental Protection Agency that provides these facts also informs us that air quality inside our homes is more impure than that open air due to the fact that air in enclosures has little chance for dispersion.

So the demand for air conditioner air filters becomes paramount. We need to be using them for protection against allergies and contamination.

A/C air filters should be replaced over time as they gather dust. So as a homeowner how do you decide on which air conditioning air filters to purchase? There are so many manufacturers but basically they all produce the same types of filters. Depending on how they work, the dominant ones are HEPA which provides pollen (and smoke) filtration, Pleated which provides a larger surface area, Electrostatic which uses a natural process that creates an attraction for dirt, and Carbon which applies carbon filtration. Of all of these, the Activated Charcoal and the Pleated variants are most commonly used.

There are two kinds of air conditioning air filters - regular disposable air filters and washable filters. Of the 4 disposable filters that we tested, the 3m filtrete line came out a clear winner. Of the three re-usable air filters that we recently tested, the Boair filter won top place because it was the simplest to clean and it filtered out the largest amount of dust.

Before you make your order for new furnace filters, you'll need to ascertain whether the replacement fits your air handler. It is not enough to simply know the size of the intended replacement; you should be able to determine the functionality of the filter as well. For example, there are air conditioning air filters with UV sterilizers that counteract contaminants in the air so they can not make their way into the human body. You may need this type for crowded rooms. HEPA air filters are well known for screening out small particles from the environment so the room remains clear of pollens. These ones serve areas like smokers rooms.

A/C air filters make living rooms safe places to spend our time. They filter dust from our air and kill any bacteria that may be lurking. We need to maintain them regularly so they keep operating to protect us.

About the Author:

Paul Mancini is a seasoned writer at b2b sites like fuzing.com where you will find thousands of trade leads for Air Conditioner Filter and Boair Filter.

Justin_AKLhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15185196967650799124noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624473127169564093.post-33614504645014135042009-06-23T08:31:00.000-07:002009-06-23T10:28:41.186-07:00The Importance Of Air Conditioner Air Filters In Providing Clean Air For The Home And Office
By Paul Mancini

Furnace air filters play an important role in the provision of clean air for the home and office. Oats may be tolerated in quite small amounts by certain patients with celiac disease, even though those with severe disease usually don't.

Dairy foods may not be tolerated when persons with celiac disease has active symptoms, since lactose intolerance frequently develops. However, this is because of the lactose sugar in the dairy foods, rather than the proteins, which can cause milk allergy.

What Common Foods are Gluten-Free?

Foods such as soybean flour, tapioca flour, rice, corn, buckwheat and potatoes are usually safe for people with celiac disease. See below for more information regarding a gluten-free diet.

Why Follow a Gluten Free Diet?

* Even though if there are no apparent symptoms, celiac disease can cause dangerous vitamin and nutritional insufficiencies, since the intestines may not be able to absorb important nutrients if gluten is being eaten.

* Hydrolyzed vegetable protein

* Flour or cereal products

* Vegetable protein

* Malt and malt flavorings

* Starches (unless specified as corn starch, which does not contain gluten)

* Various flavorings, which can be derived from cereals containing gluten

* Vegetable gum

* Emulsifiers, stabilizers derived from cereals containing gluten

Next, especially when eating at a restaurant, avoid the following:

* Breaded foods

* Creamed foods

* Meatloaf and gravies

The following are good choices for a gluten-free diet:

* Broiled or roasted meats (beef, poultry, fish)

* Plain vegetables

* Plain salads

* Potatoes (white, sweet, yams)

* Corn

* Rice

* Beans

* Fruits

* Breads and baked goods made from alternative flours (rice, soy, tapioca, arrowroot, potato)

* Breakfast cereals containing only rice, corn, grits or hominy (Such as puffed rice). Some people with celiac disease may tolerate oats as well.

Are There Other Recommendations Concerning Nutrition?

However the good news is that nearly all kids outgrow a milk allergy by the age 2 or 3.

Allergic reactions commonly happen a couple of minutes to a few hours after you consume milk " but occasionally it can be days before symptoms and sign occur. Signs and symptoms vary from soft to awful and can consist of wheezing, vomiting, hives and digestive problems. Rarely, milk allergy can cause anaphylaxis - a severe, life-threatening reaction.

Milk Allergy Symptoms

Three types of milk linked allergy symptoms have been accepted:

1. Symptoms commence at once subsequent to eating/drinking cow's milk. Reactions mainly affect the skin, causing hives and/or eczema.

2. Symptoms begin some hours after ingesting cow's milk. Symptoms of this type are mainly diarrhea and vomiting.

3. Symptoms begin more than twenty hours after consuming. The key symptom for this type is diarrhea.

Symptoms of milk allergy can affect the skin, causing rashes or hives; the digestive tract, causing bloating and diarrhea, and the respiratory system, causing runny nose and asthma.

Here is a more full listing of symptoms:

* vomiting

* hyperactive behavior

* diarrhea

* asthma

* hives

* runny nose

* rashes

* stuffy nose

* ear infections

* bloating

* watery eyes

* eczema

* allergic shiners (black around the eyes)

* recurrent bronchitis

* failure to thrive

The above mentioned symptoms are not limited to people with milk allergy. As one become familiar with food allergy symptoms, you probably notice that quite a few foods share a variety of general symptoms, such as: bloating, rash, and runny nose.

What is the Difference of Milk allergy and Milk Intolerance?

It is important to tell apart a true milk allergy from milk protein intolerance or lactose intolerance. Unlike a milk allergy, intolerance doesn't implicate the immune system. Milk intolerance causes different symptoms and need dissimilar care than does a true milk allergy. Regular signs and symptoms of milk protein intolerance or lactose intolerance include digestive problems, such as bloating, gas or diarrhea, after consuming milk.

Milk Allergy Prevention and Cure

The single way to prevent an allergic reaction is to avoid milk and milk proteins altogether. This can be tricky, as milk is a ordinary food ingredient. Despite your best efforts, you or your child may still come into contact with milk.

Medications, such as antihistamines, may reduce signs and symptoms of a milk allergy. These drugs can be taken after exposure to milk to control an allergic reaction and help relieve discomfort. If you or your child has a acute allergic reaction (anaphylaxis), you may need an emergency injection of epinephrine (adrenaline) and a trip to the emergency room.

If you're at risk of having a acute reaction, you or your child may need to carry injectable epinephrine (such as an EpiPen) at all times.

About the Author:

Maja Maartens is extremely competent with milk allergy on a personal level and she has written many in dept articles on the subject. Location is also a contributing factor and should not be overlooked as some places have higher incidents of allergy creating pollutants. Allergy relief purifiers are a relatively new discovery, designed to help sufferers but are they any good?

The outdoors is not always responsible for spreading allergens and therefore air purifiers can have its use indoors too as it is a well known fact that elements that dirty the air are more at home than anywhere else. We are continuously breathing an air of the same sort repetitively from our homes that can be more of like considered as enclosed spaces. Dust and dust mites occur randomly in every home and this can spark an attack instantly. What the air purifier does is to capture the smoke as well as the smoke odor and run it through its own filtering system after which it releases fresh and clean air for you to breathe in.

You can find air purifiers in most home improvement stores, variety stores that carry clothes, groceries and home improvement supplies. Several types of units are available in the market with many made specifically for domestic use. So, a person with celiac disease should keep to a gluten-free diet. Be sure to study the gluten allergy symptoms and if you suspect gluten allergy contact your doctor.

Where is Gluten Found? The key sources of gluten in the food include wheat, rye, and barley. Oats may be accepted in quite small quantities by some patients with celiac disease, even though those with severe disease usually don't.

* Even if there are no obvious symptoms, celiac disease can cause serious vitamin and nutritional insufficiencies, since the intestines may not be able to absorb important nutrients if gluten is being eaten.

First, reading all labels on prepared foods is vital. Do not eat any foods that contain the following:

* Hydrolyzed vegetable protein

* Flour or cereal products

* Vegetable protein

* Malt and malt flavorings

* Starches (unless specified as corn starch, which does not contain gluten)

* Various flavorings, which can be derived from cereals containing gluten

* Vegetable gum

* Emulsifiers, stabilizers derived from cereals containing gluten

Next, especially when eating at a restaurant, avoid the following:

* Breaded foods

* Creamed foods

* Meatloaf and gravies

The following are good choices for a gluten-free diet:

* Broiled or roasted meats (beef, poultry, fish)

* Plain vegetables

* Plain salads

* Potatoes (white, sweet, yams)

* Corn

* Rice

* Beans

* Fruits

* Breads and baked goods made from alternative flours (rice, soy, tapioca, arrowroot, potato)

* Breakfast cereals containing only rice, corn, grits or hominy (Such as puffed rice). Some people with celiac disease may tolerate oats as well.

Are There Other Recommendations Regarding Nutrition?

Allergies are particularly bothersome at night because of dust mites; tiny insects that like to cling to our mattresses, sheets, blankets and pillows. They, or more specifically, their feces; are what many allergy symptoms come from. But with some simple steps and a bit of shopping around you can help your child sleep through the night in comfort without irritation from allergens.

You can start by buying a case for your box springs. Made from vinyl, they don't support dust mites plus they're easy to clean and waterproof. Any reputable children's furniture retailer will have a variety of hypoallergenic products available.

Then measure your child's mattress to buy a cover that fits snugly.

Next lets talk pillows. You can find allergy friendly certified pillows which have tightly woven outer fabric that inhibits dust mites and even pet dander from entering. Many pillows are also available with hypoallergenic synthetic down and/or films that inhibit mold or bacterial growth that can also irritate an allergy. These pillows are durable, affordable, and comfortable. And remember that pillows should be replaced every two years.

Regardless of what brand you buy make sure it's got a mark of certification against allergies. They stop allergens but are also made without chemicals that can cause reactions. Remember it goes for all bedding including sheets, duvets, and pillows

And read each product's washing instructions, as they may vary. But the general rules of thumb for washing bedding is at high temperatures for both washing and drying. Conveniently, Box spring and mattress casings only need to be cleaned 3-4 times a year.

Change the bed linens once or twice a week, and vacuum the mattress, blanket and pillows when you do. This will help to get rid of any dust mite feces that have accumulated.

When making the bed, shake the bedding out then fold back the blankets. It keeps the humidity down and is less inviting for the mites. Don't forget to keep the headboard and bedside tables clean.

Wait about 2 hours after you vacuum so the dust you stirred up doesn't settle on the bed.

With a few changes, a child's bed can be a much more comfortable place at night, relatively free of allergy symptoms. This will help yourself as a parent rest better too.

About the Author:

Dennis Kiefer is devoted to children's bedroom furniture and bedding that is warm, secure, and safe but not expensive. If you are filtering your air and continue to see this sort of thing, it is an indication that it is not helping to the extent that you need it to. Even if your cleaner is doing the job you want it to, but is costing you a fortune because of power consumption, it's hurting your pocket book. If it requires frequent and costly filter changes, it's likely that you will not continue to filter to air because of the expense.

Basically an air purifier is a device which easily removes different types of contaminants from the air. However, on a larger scale, people usually purchase such a device in order to eliminate the second hand tobacco smoke from their office, house or apartment. By providing the option to filter the air in a particular room it successfully accomplishes its mission, leaving a trail of pure freshness in your house. Newly released purifiers also have a LED display implemented which indicates the selected power level and bring the user to attention when it requires cleaning.

Ionic air purifiers exist to combat airborne contaminants that are invisible to the human eye. Proper analytical tools and skills - these are required to accurately measure and document the test results before and after the experiment e.g., analyzing mold cultures before and after ionic air purification. Integrity of the testing staff is critical so that the test results are professionally documented and reliable.

Depending on the model of purifier that you choose to purchase, you will be giving yourself the ability to do everything from removing all of the common allergens from the air, like dust, pollen, and dander, to potentially even ridding the air of airborne viral contaminates, like germs, bacteria, and mold spores. Some of these machines can be somewhat delicate and if you don't take proper care of them, they will begin to function in an improper way. All of the air that passes through it will not be treated at all.

In a study conducted by the American Cancer Society, the researchers have concluded, "air pollution may be leading to deaths from lung cancer, heart attack, stroke and asthma". To prevent those airborne diseases, it has become crucial to clean the air inside your home, and offices. The air you breathe contains allergens such as pollen, animal dander, dust mites, smoke cigarettes, mold spores, viruses, bacteria, Chemical substances from paint and sprays. Polluted air cannot only worsen these diseases, but also causes them.

About the Author:

To find more about how to find the greatest air purifier hepa filter, visit http://Home-AirPurifiers.com where you'll find out some more about air purifiers of all varieties.

Justin_AKLhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15185196967650799124noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624473127169564093.post-78762915187655643552009-06-11T03:23:00.000-07:002009-06-11T03:48:56.308-07:00Get the Right Air Purifier Technology For Your Needs
By Paul Cameron

Nowadays, air cleaners are a must, especially if you have allergies or small children in the home. These small appliances are ideal for getting rid of pollutants and allergens from the air in your home. But with the various technologies available in a home air purifier, it can be difficult to determine which one you need. Each has its purpose, but some are more efficient than others. Following is a look at some of the different kinds of products available, as well as the benefits and disadvantages that you can get from each.

* Cloth type filter air cleaners separate dust particles, but cannot trap smaller sized particles.

* HEPA, which stands for High Efficiency Particulate Arresting, filters are able to remove almost 100 percent of particles from the air that are a minimum of 0.3 micros in size. They use replaceable filters, which means you'll be spending money on an ongoing basis.

* Carbon models trap odors and particles in a carbon filter as air passes through. These are able to capture particles smaller than 0.3 micros; however, they're more costly than HEPA models.

* Ozone units release ozone into the air. This is highly effective in trapping odors, bacteria, and fumes. But this model of filter isn't able to get rid of allergens and pollutants from the air.

* Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation can trap bacteria and mold. But heat extension will be required to kill them because they are very resistant. This is one of the most expensive models as it has the ability to trap mold and bacteria. Also, the maintenance costs are higher.

Your purchasing decision needs to take into account more than the technology; you also need to consider the requirements of your situation. For locations such as the bathroom or kitchen, where odors tend to hang around, you might consider ultraviolet or ozone air cleaners. For a place that is prone to mold, like the bathroom and sometimes the closet, ultraviolet germicidal irradiation is also great.

But the needs can change for various regions of the home. Therefore, you should choose a style that will meet the highest need. As well, you don't want to rely completely on air cleaners. It is still important to make sure that the air is clean to start with. Always let air circulate, unless the outside air is highly polluted, by opening windows on every side of the house.

And ensure that your walls have a moisture repellant surface to discourage the growth of mold. Regularly clean the walls and ceiling of the rooms that are usually exposed to moisture like the bathroom and kitchen. Keep them dry as much as possible. Another means of discouraging the growth of bacteria is to make sure your mats and rugs remain dry.

About the Author:

Air cleaners and purifiers are becoming ever more necessary as pollution levels rise and more people are developing allergies and asthma. Allergic asthma is actually very common in the US. The response of your body to an allergen frequently results in an asthma attack, or worsens an existing episode. This is a serious issue for those who suffer from both allergies and asthma, because it involves twice the discomfort and a greater risk of health problems.

Allergens cause your body to produce antibodies to get rid of the irritant, causing you to experience a reaction that usually involves sneezing and watering of the eyes. The airways and nasal linings become inflamed as a result of your body's response, which frequently leads to an asthma attack in those who suffer from the condition. People who have breathing-related allergies and asthma usually suffer greatly during an attack.

Does treatment of allergies result in prevention of asthma? It can certainly lower your chances of experiencing an asthma attack. Allergy shots are very useful because they reduce the ability of your antibodies to react to allergens. And so the chances of an asthma attack are reduced.

For those who suffer from asthma attacks, it's essential that they do their best to avoid the irritants that lead to inflamed airways. Pollen, pet dander, dust mites, and certain kinds of food are the most common irritants. Those who have family members with allergic asthma are more likely to acquire the disease. These people are advised to be very careful with possible allergens. Most allergy induced asthma is triggered by more than one factor.

You don't always have to use medication if you are successful at avoiding the situations that lead to an attack. However, if you do use medication, it's important that you treat the symptoms of both conditions. Using a nasal spray can calm the inflammation that allergies create. Inhalers can reduce inflammation caused by asthma. Be aware, though, that self-medication can have serious consequences. First of all, you should visit your doctor to discuss the most appropriate course of treatment. You can use medication to cure either of these conditions, but caution is advised because they can aggravate certain health problems.

People are advised to take control of their problem by making sure they know which factors trigger their attacks. Discuss all this information with your physician so he or she can formulate the best possible asthma treatment for your situation. The doctor will try to gauge the factors that you have encountered before and the reactions of your body towards past treatments.

About the Author:

Asthma is a serious medical condition that affects countless numbers of people worldwide. They, or more specifically, their feces, can cause allergic reactions. The good news though, is that those allergies can be prevented by taking some simple steps regarding your children's bedding.

There are many certified hypoallergenic products out there for your child's bed, available at almost any major retailer, and for reasonable prices. For starters, its good to purchase a vinyl box spring encasing. They are durable, easy to clean, waterproof, and most importantly create one less surface for dust mites to live in.

Next, a mattress cover that encases the entire mattress. Before selecting a cover, measure your child's mattress (width, length and especially depth) to ensure you purchase the correct size.

Preventing allergies also means replacing pillows at least every two years. Get a certified hypoallergenic pillow because their fabric is sewn so tightly it can inhibit mites growth. Try synthetic down because it also keeps mold and bacteria down.

Regardless of what brand you buy make sure it's got a mark of certification against allergies. They stop allergens but are also made without chemicals that can cause reactions. Remember it goes for all bedding including sheets, duvets, and pillows

And read each product's washing instructions, as they may vary. This will help to get rid of any dust mite feces that have accumulated.

Since dust mites love humidity you can do a couple more things to keep it more inhospitable. When you make the bed fold the blankets down. Also ensure that the headboard and bedside tables are dust free.

Wait about 2 hours after you vacuum so the dust you stirred up doesn't settle on the bed.

It's these simple changes that can mean the difference between discomfort and rest at night for the kids and you, the parent.

About the Author:

The Felicity River Company is devoted to children's bedroom furniture and bedding that is warm, secure, and safe but not expensive. Easter time is characterized by the vast amounts of sweet candy, chocolate, and fresh food being prepared for lunch and dinner. Don't fret- those with allergies can have their fill too!

Organic gummy-based candies have always been popular with children. The gummy worm has been the most popular, both for its entertainment value in eating and the humor in eating a tasty form of a creepy-crawler. Organic gummy worms are a sheer enjoyment to consume, since they are crafted from real fruit juice and organic ingredients. You should notice a drastic change in taste, and surprisingly for the same price you would pay otherwise.

The lollipop has long been used as a form of positive reinforcement in children. After all, you see them in a doctor's or dentist's office to help cheer up children who may have an aversion to medical environments. Organic suckers and lollipops are formulated only out of natural ingredients, and are made in a factory that has been verified as safe.

Chewing gum is a tough item to buy when you go shopping for organic goods. Chewing gum on the consumer market is commonly laden with chemicals and additives to obtain a specific flavor. Regardless, you can side with the "Glee" chewing gum that is available in health food stores and over Internet shops. Glee gum is made up of natural ingredients- such as pure cane sugar.

It just wouldn't be Easter without a bit of chocolate. Obtaining chocolate bunnies, candy bars of delicate dark chocolate content, and other shapes and sizes of this rich delight is quite possible. "Choco Boom" makes a great chocolate candy bar that is made up of only the finest non-dairy items that anyone can enjoy. You may even find that those without food allergies prefer the taste! But don't limit your possibilities there- you can also get cookies and other desserts as well.

A type of candy that has been around for many decades would be licorice. Licorice has a refined taste that isn't liked by all, but loved by many. Black or red licorice can be obtained in organic food for a healthier option. In the case of licorice, there is a large difference in the taste that you would get from regular licorice products- and you will see that the change in flavor is for the better.

Final Thoughts

Allergies won't get in the way of a child's development, so long as you know where to shop and how to do so. Shopping for candy that is organic doesn't take much effort, since there are health stores springing up in metro areas all across the nation for those with food allergies to enjoy.

About the Author:

Learn more on Organic Lollipops and Ener-G Foods White Rice Loaf.

Justin_AKLhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15185196967650799124noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624473127169564093.post-55616181058222284382009-06-04T07:16:00.000-07:002009-06-04T09:48:12.103-07:00How To Live With Allergies
By Michael Matthews

If you suffer from one of the many kinds of allergies that exist, you can avoid whatever causes them for you. Typical reasons for allergic reactions include pollen, mold, some activities and certain kinds of foods along with other things. In spite of the inconvenience, you can try to enhance the quality of life by controlling the circumstances in your environment. Being conscious of what's around you, making up a schedule, checking the ingredients carefully of the foods you eat will all help you to stay away from allergies and be healthy. You can enjoy the best life you can have. Here are some tips to help you find ways to prevent allergies..

You can monitor the pollen count and try to avoid going outside when it's high if pollen and mold are a problem for you. If it's necessary for you to go outdoors for some kind of outside activity, do this only when the pollen count is reported as low. Don't open windows or turn on fans but instead turn on the air conditioner which will cool your home and keep the pollen level low inside you house.

Pollen, dust and other pollutants can be removed from the air by using an air filter in your home. You should check the label warnings regarding drowsiness on all medications you use, like antihistamines and nasal sprays that can be kept easily accessible in your home. It's also helpful to eat a lot of yogurt throughout the week.

Food allergies bother 2 million people in the United States, but dining out has become much easier for those with this problem. Restaurants tend to now list the ingredients in the foods included on their menus, and there are warnings for people who have specific allergies to avoid the foods that aggravate these. Employees are often trained to handle situations of allergic reactions and attacks, so usually you will be okay, but it's a good idea to check with the staff and ask them about this.

When you go food shopping, make sure you read labels and ask clerks in the store if the foods you're allergic to are contained in the food products you wish to purchase. Get information about the different names that offending foods might use so that you can be certain you're not encountering that type of food in a different form.

Asthma can be one of the reactions, so many allergy sufferers try to avoid activities that can be problematic. Some people aren't aware that exercise is actually good for allergy sufferers. By being careful about planning activities ahead of time, sufferers can improve the quality of their lives by taking advantage of these beneficial activities. A doctor and/or an allergist-immunologist can advise you well about planning your activities. They can help you to get physically fit and avoid allergic reactions at the same time. You may need to have some kinds of prescription drugs to help with the allergies. If this is the case, when considering plans, check the health insurance ratings to see that there is some kind of coverage for your medical needs.

About the Author:

There are ways to prevent allergies and ways to can live with them. These could include pollens, molds, dust mites, pet dander and certain types of food. Allergies can present a challenge, and sometimes it can seem that nothing can be done to modify the symptoms of this irritating problem. It's important to get allergy relief because repeated exposures to allergens can cause them to build up and each reaction can become more severe.

There are a lot of types of medications that can offer relief, and they can be obtained over the counter or by prescription from a doctor. They can come in pill or liquid form. Other allergy relief medications are also available as topical creams or in eye drops.

Natural remedies, also called home remedies, are also used. They offer a safe and effective alternative, and are often more affordable. Natural relief can be a permanent and more healthy solution. People are looking at natural relief for relief from their allergy symptoms more than ever now.

When seeking allergy relief, include vitamins and minerals. Vitamins C and E and mineral bicarbonates are often used in allergy clinics, for example. They are widely used and accepted as home remedies for asthma as an allergic reaction. A healthy and balanced diet is necessary and vitamins should only be used as a supplement and not a replacement for this.

Another effective way of promoting health is the use of herbs, according to many scientific studies. Despite the allergy symptoms you might have, herbal allergy relief is worth looking into as a possible treatment.

Another method of getting relief is found in allergy shots. The way these work is that they contain a level of allergens that will strengthen the immune system but not cause an allergic reaction. In this way the immune system can be enabled to handle certain stimuli. Many people will get shots between three to five years, beginning with injections once a week.

Always talk to your physician first before you proceed with any treatment to find allergy relief.

About the Author:

There are ways to prevent allergies and ways to can live with them. This natural process keeps our internal organs safe, and our bodies functioning as normal, so what causes allergies?

It?s funny really, because it is our immune system attacking these allergens, which get into our bodies?, that is behind what causes allergies. It?s not these things bringing us out in rashes, but our own bodies, that make ourselves come out in a rash, make us have difficulty breathing, cause us to tingle all over, or make our eyes water up our eyes and bodies become itchy.

Every one?s body treats stuff like pollen, dust and even some foods as an invader. So if our bodies do come into contact with them, our bodies will defend themselves. What causes allergies in some people is how our body reacts to these invaders - when this happens very aggressively that is an allergy.

There is no scientific knowledge as to what causes allergies and why some people suffer more than others. Allergies are random beasties and can happen overnight, although not too many of them will be really severe. You should keep in mind that some allergies are inherited and that people who have low immune systems are more susceptible to allergies.

One of the most talked about allergies at the moment seems to be the nut allergy. There is hardly a packet of anything edible that does not have written on it ?may contain nuts?. Even an extract or a piece of nut dust can cause symptoms of allergies, which can be so severe that people can die from it.

Have a look at hay fever. A while a go most people could walk around when the pollen content in the air was at its most high and not even sneeze, but now quite a few of those people are walking around, at this time of the year, with eyes watering, sneezing as they go and blowing their noses, saying ? Hewow how du woo (sniff) do? (Hello how do you do). The symptoms of allergies like these are on the increase.

What causes allergies can have such a violent reaction with our immune system attacking it, that people can die. This does not happen that often, but some people know that their reaction is so bad that they have to carry an EpiPen with them at all times, so they can give themselves a jab of epinephrine to counteract the allergy. This does not always work unfortunately, or it may only work for a short time, but usually it does stop the allergy from causing serious damage and an ambulance should always be called, just in case.

An anaphylactic shock is the harshest of symptoms of allergies. This can come from almost anything like some types of foods, bee stings, medication or even animal fur. The thing is with an anaphylactic shock is that there is not a lot anyone can do about it, they can give you water and keep your airways free from obstruction, but mainly it is a waiting game. Waiting for your body to finish attacking whatever it is that trying to harm you. The best thing to do when someone has an anaphylactic shock is call an ambulance, as they will have the right equipment to monitor and help a person suffering from an anaphylactic shock.

When you are in a new environment, exposed to new foods, ways of life or medication, you should be ultra careful, as for one, no-one knows exactly what causes allergies, and secondly you should be aware of potential symptoms of allergies. Chances are you will be perfectly fine, but recognition of the symptoms of allergies could save someone?s life.

About the Author:

To read even more health tips and advice, that we continually update, please pay us a visit on our health in general related site.

Justin_AKLhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15185196967650799124noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3624473127169564093.post-56036347596457609192009-05-28T07:26:00.000-07:002009-05-28T09:19:21.521-07:00What Causes Allergies and The Main Symptoms of Allergies
By Don Myatt

Harmful toxins, viruses and bad bacteria are identified and naturally attacked by our immune system. This amazing system happens in our bodies? everyday and keeps us healthy and our organs in tip top condition, so what causes allergies?

When dust or pollen enters our system and is recognized as an unfriendly matter by our immune system, our immune system can go into overdrive as it tries to get rid of it. It?s how much our body decides to attack the unfriendly matter, which causes the symptoms of allergies.

When you think about it everyone?s bodies will treat outside agents like pollen, dust, and even some foods as immune system invaders. But what causes allergies is how someone?s body reacts to these allergens. When the body overreacts to these outside agents, that is an allergy.

Unfortunately anyone can suffer from allergies, and some people can suddenly become allergic to things overnight. However, you should bear in mind that allergies can be inherited and people with hypersensitive immune systems are more at risk. There is nothing scientifically concrete to answer what causes allergies.

One of the most talked about allergies at the moment seems to be the nut allergy. There is hardly a packet of anything edible that does not have written on it ?may contain nuts?. Even an extract or a piece of nut dust can cause symptoms of allergies, which can be so severe that people can die from it.

Let?s take hay fever, for example, the average person on the street will walk outside during pollen season and not have so much as a sniffle. However, a hay fever sufferer will be sneezing, itching, have watery eyes, and in severe cases trouble breathing, all because their immune systems see pollen as a huge threat.

Sometimes what causes allergies can attack the body so badly, that it can cause the airway to swell so much that it suffocates you, but this thankfully is rare. Some people carry around an EpiPen, which is an epinephrine injection, because their allergies are so volatile. Commons allergies that require carrying around this pen include bee stings and nut allergies. The injection might last for quite some time, or it might just last a few minutes, so if you are around someone who has just used an EpiPen to counteract an allergy, call an ambulance immediately.

The most severe form of symptoms of allergies is an anaphylactic shock. I have had an anaphylactic shock when I was prescribed Diclofenac by a locum, which is an anti inflammatory drug. My lips started to go warm, my head started to tingle and itch and then my lips started to swell. My sister took me to a doctor?s surgery and they saw me straight away, but could do nothing except watch and wait to see what, if anything, happened. It was quite frightening, but I tried to stay calm and drank lots of water. Other symptoms are watery eyes, a rash and breathlessness.

Some of the symptoms to look out for, when some is having an anaphylactic shock or even just an allergic reaction are, prickly heat, itchiness, watering eyes, swelling and a rash. The best and only thing you should do is call an ambulance and talk to them, tell them what is happening. Most allergic reactions are not this severe, but now you know the symptoms of allergies to look out for.

About the Author:

To read even more health tips and advice, that we continually update, please pay us a visit on our health in general related site.

Justin_AKLhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15185196967650799124noreply@blogger.com0
